All effects last for 24 hours unless otherwise stated.
1. Sorrowfruit Pulp
- Found In: Cemeteries where deep grief lingers, often near the graves of tragic figures.
- DM Note: This can appear after burying someone important in the story.
- Description: A pulpy, deep-blue fruit that leaks a misty, tear-scented vapor.
- Taste: A thick, syrupy drink with the salty-sweet taste of caramel and regret.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) You are overcome with despair, suffering disadvantage on all charisma checks. 2. (Bad) You weep uncontrollably, leaving a trail of tears wherever you go. 3. (Good) You gain darkvision for 60 feet. 4. (Very Good) You can communicate telepathically with any creature within 30 feet.
2. Pyrelily Petals
- Found In: The edges of active volcanoes or within the scorched footprints of fire elementals.
- DM Note: Found near the dwarven forges in the Ember Halls.
- Description: Bright orange petals that occasionally smolder without burning.
- Taste: A fiery-orange cocktail that tastes like spiced honey with a faint burning aftertaste.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) Your breath catches fire, dealing 1d6 damage to yourself each time you speak. 2. - Description: A jagged crystal that hums with strange whispers when held.
- Taste: A sharp, effervescent drink with the taste of citrus and static.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) Your voice echoes uncontrollably, making stealth impossible. 2. (Bad) You involuntarily repeat the last thing you said every minute. 3. (Good) Your words gain weight, granting you advantage on Persuasion and Deception checks. 4. (Very Good) You can cast Dissonant Whispers once.
4. Moonshadow Mushroom
- Found In: Caves bathed in rare moonlight reflections, often appearing after lunar eclipses.
- DM Note: Ancient City Dragonspire mountain
- Description: A bioluminescent fungus that glows under moonlight.
- Taste: A smooth, creamy drink with hints of vanilla and an odd metallic aftertaste.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) You have disadvantage on initiative rolls. 2. (Bad) You yawn uncontrollably, making concentration nearly impossible. 3. (Good) You become invisible in dim light or darkness. 4. (Very Good) You can teleport between shadows at will.

- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) You constantly hear whispering voices, making focus impossible. Disadvantage on perception rolls. 2. (Bad) Your speech becomes a garbled mess of bubbles. Disadvantage on spells with a verbal component. 3. (Good) You can breathe underwater. 4. (Very Good) You gain a swim speed of 40 feet and echolocation (can see general shapes through barriers).
6. Phoenixberry
- Found In: A phoenix’s nesting ground—if the phoenix does not burn the bush first.
- DM Note: a trapped Phoenix in Duskwatch keep can be rescued, and will reincarnate as soon as it is outside and feels safe. Phoenixberries will grow in the same spot the next day.
- Description: A bright red berry that smokes slightly when plucked.
- Taste: A tangy, cinnamon-spiced drink with a warm, lingering heat.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) You burst into flames, taking 2d6 fire damage. 2. (Bad) Your hair and eyebrows are singed off. 3. (Good) If reduced to 0 HP, regain 1 HP instantly. 4. (Very Good) If reduced to 0 HP, regain 10 HP instantly.
7. Bloodsuckle Nectar
- Found In: Harvested from vampiric vines growing near ancient battlefields.
- DM Note: vines on duskwatch
- Description: A deep crimson nectar with an iron-rich scent.
- Taste: A thick, syrupy drink that tastes like cherries and copper.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) You lose 1d6 HP every two hours. 2. (Bad) Your veins glow visibly red. 3. (Good) You gain 10 temporary HP. 4. (Very Good) You regenerate 1 HP per minute.
8. Starlit Fern Frond
- Found In: Only sprouts under meteor showers in untouched glades.
- DM Note: randomly mention a meteor shower at some point and see if characters remember to look.
- Description: A plant that only grows under meteor showers.
- Taste: A sparkling, almost weightless drink that tastes like lavender and ozone.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) You float 10 feet in the air, then fall, taking 1d6 falling damage. 2. (Bad) Your skin glows brightly, making stealth impossible. 3. (Good) You can hover 5 feet off the ground at will. 4. (Very Good) You can fly at a speed of 30 feet.

- Taste: A jittery, electric-blue drink that tastes like blueberries and static.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) Your leg twitches uncontrollably, giving you disadvantage on dexterity checks. 2. (Bad) You develop an uncontrollable eye twitch. 3. (Good) Your movement speed increases by 10 feet. 4. (Very Good) You can jump three times your normal distance.
10. Voidcap Dust
- Found In: Fungi that grow in absolute darkness, often in deep caves connected to the void.
- DM Note: In the underground under Lusteris.
- Description: A fine, black powder that absorbs light unnaturally.
- Taste: A pitch-black drink that tastes like nothing… and then everything all at once.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) You are silenced, unable to speak or make any sound. 2. (Bad) Your body flickers between reality and void, giving you disadvantage on physical interactions (Strength & Dexterity-based checks). 3. (Good) You can step into shadows and emerge up to 30 feet away as a bonus action (like a weaker Shadow Step). 4. (Very Good) You exist partially in the void, gaining resistance to non-magical damage and the ability to phase through solid objects as difficult terrain.
11. Blinking Toadstool
- Found In: Shifting, enchanted forests where the landscape subtly rearranges itself at night.
- DM Notes: Somewhere in the Elfwood or Witchwood.
- Description: A mushroom that opens and closes like an eye when touched.
- Taste: A velvety, earthy drink with an odd, flickering aftertaste that seems to vanish between sips.
- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) During combat, you may blink randomly out of existence. On your turn, perform a DC 10 Wisdom check. On a fail, you blink out of existence for 1d4 rounds. 2. (Bad) Your vision stutters, causing disadvantage on Perception checks. 3. (Good) You can cast Blur once per short rest. 4. (Very Good) You can teleport up to 60 feet once per short rest.
12. Thunderpepper Seeds
- Found In: Hidden within storm-wracked soil, where they are struck by lightning before becoming viable.
- DM Notes: Storm in Dragonspire Mountains or Pale Mountains.
- Description: Tiny seeds that spark when exposed to air.
- Taste: A zesty, lemon-lime drink with an electrifying tang that makes your tongue tingle.

- Taste: A smoldering drink with a smoky, charred caramel flavor that leaves a pleasant warmth.

- Effects (Roll 1d4): 1. (Very Bad) During combat, you are frozen in time for 1d4 rounds on a failed DC 10 Wisdom check. 2. (Bad) You move at half speed, as if slightly out of sync. 3. (Good) You can take one extra reaction per turn. 4. (Very Good) Once per short rest, you can rewind your undo and redo your last action (6 seconds).
16. Chilled Wisp Essence
